To celebrate the 40th anniversary of its first in-house quartz movement (the famous 7P ultra-thin model launched in 1976), Piaget presented at SIHH 2016 in Geneva the Emperador Cushion-Shaped XL 700P watch, an astonishing model created in a limited series of just 118 pieces. Combining a mechanical calibre with a quartz regulator generator, this concept watch highlights two perfectly-mastered skills forming part of the Manufacture’s heritage. For while Piaget is distinguished by its expertise and creativity in the design of ultra-thin calibres, it also has its own range of quartz movements which drive many of its ladies’ and jewellery watch creations. Revealing a ground-breaking new movement that forms a daring combination of mechanical calibre and quartz regulator, the Emperador Cushion-Shaped XL 700P concept watch merges the legacy of dual forms of expertise into a contemporary, emblematic design.
